Bresnan stars as England thrash India

Tim Bresnan shone with both bat and ball as England crushed India by 319 runs at Trent Bridge to win the second Test with more than a day to spare.
England's victory, achieved despite Sachin Tendulkar's 50, gave them a 2-0 lead in this four-match series as they looked to knock India off top spot in the ICC's Test Championship table.
Andrew Strauss' side will replace India at the summit if they maintain or better their lead in the remaining two Tests.
India set a record victory target of 478, were bowled out for 158 with Tendulkar top-scoring with 56 but still left searching for an unprecedented and elusive 100th international hundred.

Bresnan, who earlier made 90 batting at No.8 in England's second innings 544, did the bulk of the damage on Monday with a maiden Test five-wicket haul of 5-48 in 12 overs - including two in two balls before tea.
Only three India batsmen made double figure scores on the fourth day, with Tendulkar the lone member of their powerful top order to achieve the feat.
No team has made more in the fourth innings to win a Test than the 7-418 by the West Indies against Australia at St John's, Antigua, in 2002/03.

Before lunch England, who won the first Test at Lord's by 196 runs, saw off Rahul Dravid, who made 117 in India's first innings, for just six when he was caught behind off a lifting delivery from man of the match Stuart Broad.
VVS Laxman, another of India's star batsmen, was then clean bowled by a superb James Anderson delivery for four.
Opener Abhinav Mukund, dropped on nought, struggled to three off 41 balls before falling to Bresnan's fifth ball, a bouncer he gloved to first slip Strauss.

And Bresnan succeeded with the short ball again when Suresh Raina hit a hook straight to substitute Scott Elstone at long leg.
Tendulkar had struck some typically sublime straight drives off Anderson but he could do nothing as Bresnan, only playing in this match after fast bowler Chris Tremlett was injured, took two wickets in two balls.
First Yuvraj Singh gloved a rising delivery to Alastair Cook at backward silly point and was out for eight.
Next ball India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, inexplicably playing no shot, was lbw for a golden duck to leave the tourists 6-55 and Bresnan on a hat-trick at the start of his next over, which Harbhajan Singh survived.

Tendulkar square-cut Bresnan for four to complete his first fifty of the series with his eighth four before Harbhajan slogged opposing off-spinner Graeme Swann for six.
But Tendulkar fell when he was undone by a good length inswinger from Anderson, taking his wicket for the seventh time in eight Tests.
Harbhajan exited for 46 when a hook off Bresnan was caught by Elstone.
That wicket gave 26-year-old Yorkshire seamer Bresnan, in his eighth match at this level, a new Test-best, surpassing his four for 50 against Australia in Melbourne in December.

'Pie-chucker' Yuvraj ready to face England

New Delhi: India's Yuvraj Singh said on Wednesday he is keen to renew his rivalry with Kevin Pietersen on the upcoming tour of England after being called a "pie-chucker" by the England batsman a few years ago.
"I know that guy well and I am really keen to throw some more pies at him and others around him," Yuvraj told the Indian Express newspaper.
"And if my pies can contribute and get Pietersen's and some other valuable wickets, I would be really delighted."
The Indian batsman and left-arm spinner, who returned to the squad for the England tour after recovering from injury, was called a "pie-chucker" by Pietersen during a home Test series in 2008.
One-day specialist Yuvraj, in and out of the Test squad since making his international debut in 2000, said the tour would be an opportunity for him to cement his place in the team for the longer-format.
"Test cricket is one area I would like to improve and do well. I want to be a permanent member of the Test side and I know that won't be easy," said Yuvraj, who has so far played 274 one-dayers but only 34 Tests.
"I will do whatever I can do to strengthen my Test records. The England tour will be one of the biggest challenges in my career but in every challenge there is an opportunity and that's how I would like to see things from here."
Yuvraj said the four-Test series, starting at Lord's on July 21, would be highly competitive as the Ashes-winning England side would be hard to beat on home soil.
"England is a very good team and of late they have achieved some tremendous results as a Test side, so beating them at home would be a big task," he said.
"But we also have a very good and experienced side to combat them. Our overseas record also has improved a lot in the recent times. I am sure this is going to be a very competitive series."
India named a full-strength squad, with batsmen Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag, and pacemen Zaheer Khan and Shanthakumaran Sreesanth returning after missing the ongoing Test series in the West Indies.
India, who won their last Test series in England in 2007 under Rahul Dravid, will also play five one-day internationals a one-off Twenty20 match during the tour.
