England win toss, bowl
England captain Andrew Strauss won the toss and sent Australia in to bat on a green-tinged pitch in the third Ashes Test at the WACA ground on Thursday.
Victory for England would give them an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the series, meaning the tourists would retain the Ashes before Christmas.
Australia gambled on the use of four specialist pacemen by leaving out West Australian left-arm spinner Michael Beer.
The Australians will go in with pacemen Ryan Harris, Mitchell Johnson, Ben Hilfenhaus and Peter Siddle with support from the allrounders Shane Watson and Steve Smith.
That meant a total of four changes from the 11 that lost by an innings and 71 runs to England in the second Test at Adelaide Oval.
The WACA ground surface has retained its liberal coverage of grass, encouraging the use of four quicks and Strauss' choice to bowl first.
England chose tall quick Chris Tremlett as the replacement for the injured Stuart Broad.
