Ingram sets up big win for South Africa in First ODI


Colin Ingram made unbeaten century guide comfortable 125 runs victory for South Africa in the first ODI against Pakistan at Chevrolet Park on Sunday.

The Colin Ingram made unbeaten 105 runs as South Africa post 315 for 4 after being sent in to bat. Pakistan could only manage 190 runs in chase. Ingram made his runs off 103 deliveries included with ten boundaries. This was his third one day hundred and his second against Pakistan.

He put on partnerships of 120 runs for the third wicket with skipper AB de Villiers (65) and 62 runs for the fourth wicket with Faf du Plessis (26) and 50 off only 23 balls with Farhaan Behardien he was smashed 34 not out off 14 balls. Hashim Amla scored 43 runs before he was caught at deep square leg off Mohammad Hafeez. Pakistan made a good start with Mohammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed added 42 for the first wicket off 43 balls before they struggled a double blow.

Asad Shafiq dismissed cheaply and Pakistan were unable to build extensive partnerships with skipper Misbah-ul-Haq top scorer with 38 runs. Shahid Afridi quickfire 34 off 16 balls before he was last man out but his innings was never likely to alter the outcome. Afridi smashed three sixes, including a huge strike which sailed out of the ground and into a car park.

Kleinveldt ended with 4 for 22 in 5.2 overs and Ryan McLaren claimed 3 for 19. This win gave South Africa a 1-0 lead in the five match ODI series. The second match will starts on Centurion on Friday.
