Warne statue unveiled

A bronze statue of former Australian bowling legend Shane Warne was unveiled at the MCG on Thursday.

The 42-year-old Warne – who is currently playing for the Melbourne Stars in the KFC T20 Big Bash League – has been remembered by a 2.5m tall statue, sculpted by Louis Lauman.
The statue shows Warne about to bowl another leg-spin delivery at the MCG, the ground he took his 700th Test wicket at.
"It's a great honour," Warne said at the unveiling.
"It's a bit weird seeing yourself up there but, I'm very proud."
Warne also took the chance to take a jibe at his weight in the past, with the statue depicting him when he was slightly more rotund.
"It's 300 kilos that statue, it's pretty lifelike for when I played!" he said.
Warne's children and partner Liz Hurley flanked him on Thursday while the spinner's former Test captain, Mark Taylor, also attended.
