Dhaka: Umar Gul and Aizaz Cheema shared four wickets to leave Bangladesh on 114 for 5 at stumps in their second innings and still trailing Pakistan by 18 runs in the second Test on day four Tuesday.
After Bangladesh were reduced to 53 for 3 in their second innings, the hosts struggled until stumps to gather the total in 35 overs in response to Pakistan's first innings total of 470.
Gul (2 for 23) and Cheema (2 for 41) led the bowling attack while Abdur Rehman took one wicket.
Earlier, Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan took six wickets to restrict the visitors' first-innings lead to 132 runs.
Shakib's 6 for 52 helped keep Bangladesh in the contest after Pakistan had resumed the day on an imposing 292-3.
However, much of that good work with the ball was undone when Bangladesh lost two wickets in the final two balls before tea, to be 24-2 in their second innings.
Bangladesh continued to fall and stood 95 for 5 in the 29th over.
Tamim Iqbal was given out caught at slip off the bowling of Umar Gul when the ball appeared to come off his helmet, then Shahriar Nafees fell lbw to the next delivery.
Shakib was caught by Azhar Ali off Cheema on 6. Nasir Hossain was unbeaten on 30 with skipper Mushfiqur Rahim on 7 at the end of the day.
Earlier, Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq scored 70 and Adnan Akmal compiled 53 but Pakistan's tail was quickly dispatched in the second session, thanks mostly to Shakib's aggressive bowling.
Bangladesh are aiming for a draw to prevent a clean-sweep by Pakistan, who won the first Test, all three one-dayers and the Twenty20 game on this tour.
