WC warm-up: B'desh maul Canada by 9 wickets


Chittagong: Bangladesh took four wickets in two overs on its way to a nine-wicket victory over World Cup minnows Canada in a tournament warm-up match on Saturday.
Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hassan returned figures of three wickets for five runs and spinner Mahmudullah 2-9 as Canada was reduced to just 112.
Bangladesh reached the target in only 19.2 overs. Opener Tamim Iqbal hit three sixes and seven fours before he was bowled by Rizwan Cheema for 69 and Imrul Kayes was 39 not out.
Canada crumbled in the 25th over when the score was 81-4.
Spinner Mahmudullah bowled Canada captain Ashish Bagai (30) and Rizwan Cheema (0) in consecutive deliveries before having a loud shout for lbw against Nitish Kumar (15) turned down on his hat trick ball.
All-rounder Shakib Al Hassan then struck twice in the next over, bowling Zubin Surkari (11) before trapping Karl Whatham (0) lbw three balls later.
Bangladesh struck in the first over when paceman Shafiul Islam bowled Hiral Patel with the scoreboard still on 0.
Islam also took the wicket of John Davison, Canada's most experienced batsmen, in the 6th over.
Canada was all out in 37.3 overs.
