Harbhajan's second hundred sets new record
New Delhi: Harbhajan Singh on Monday became the only No. 8 batsman in the history of Test cricket to hit two consecutive hundreds as he smashed his second career ton against New Zealand on day four of the second Test at Hyderabad.
Harbhajan reached the landmark off 105 balls and his knock included seven fours and six sixes. He remained unbeaten on 111 as India's first innings folded up for 472 just under an hour after the start of the day's play.
During this knock, Harbhajan went past Virender Sehwag as the highest run-getter in this series.
Harbhajan had scored his first hundred last Monday on day five of the first Test against the Kiwis at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad. His 115 runs and his fantastic partnership with VVS Laxman had helped India save the game then.
Today, Harbhajan's knock again enabled India to take a healthy 122-run lead.
